Agriculture is one of the most important economic sectors of Republic of Moldova, contributing 16% to the country’s GDP, a ratio which has significant potential for further improvement. Also, Moldovan villages are home to 57% of the country’s population.
In this context CRPE – R. Moldova, National Federation of Farmers in Moldova and National Federation of Local Action Groups in Romania propose to implement the project ”Piloting and advocating the LEADER approach to rural development in Republic of Moldova” that aims to research the potential for implementation of the LEADER approach to rural development in Republic of Moldova (bottom-up, participatory policy framework financing both agriculture, and also social and cultural rural development), create capacity (in terms of understanding, knowledge, cohesion) forrelevant social actors pertaining to ruralMoldovan communities (local administration, farmers’ associations, social non-governmental organizations, community leaders – formal and informal) to future create Local Action Groups-type of entities in two regions in Republic of Moldova,basedon the Romanian and Dutch experience in this field and advocate for creating public policies at a national level financing the implementation of LAGs in Republic of Moldova.
