Increasing the capacity of potential beneficiaries of EU cross-border funding from the Republic of Moldova. Building partnerships with beneficiaries from Romania

Period of implementation: September 2016 – March 2017

The development of the Republic of Moldova, but also of the border counties in Romania can receive substantial support through European Cross-Border cooperation funds.

The analysis and experience of former trilateral program revealed that beneficiaries encountered problems with the identification of compatible partners with whom to develop projects with transboundary impact. Meanwhile, there were problems with the capacity of the beneficiaries to understand the specific requirements of European funding and to develop projects that meet the needs identified in the guidelines.

The project  will focus on three main areas:

  • Informing potential beneficiaries about the specific requirements of cross-border programs and popularization of future funding opportunities;
  • Facilitating partnerships between entities in the eligible area;
  • Strenghtening the capacities required to properly identify the development needs by providing specific training.

Donor: The project is funded by the Romanian Government, through the budget for Official Development Assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and implemented in partnership with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Bratislava Regional Centre.
