CRPE, in partnership with Active Watch and supported by Soros Foundation – Moldova, developed the study „External pluralism of mass-media in the Republic of Moldova: between opportunity and reality”. It’s aim is to assess the degree of external pluralism of mass-media in Moldova, on the most important segments in terms of audience: television and internet.

External pluralism gives the measure of diversity of media institutions in the media sector, through the existence of a wide variety of mass media organisations and institutions which reflect the points of view of different groups or tendencies in a society. External pluralism refers to the number of employers, media companies, televisions, radios, publications and programmes.

A general conclusion of this study is the fact that the media market presents itself as unbalanced in terms of political, cultural and geographical pluralism. Thus, the main televisions and online publications are concentrated mostly in the hands of several politicians.
