CRPE hosted a series of webinars that explored two significant themes shaping our society: the role of women leaders driving social progress and the evolving landscape of youth civic participation. Each event brought together experts and changemakers to share insights, strategies, and practical advice on fostering impactful leadership and civic engagement in a post-pandemic world.
Webinar “From idea to leadership: Women who bring change”
The webinar took place on August 27, 2024, and brought together inspiring women leaders to discuss sustainability, leadership, global change, human rights, and social involvement. Three accomplished speakers with expertise in politics, sustainability, and social engagement shared their experiences and insights on leading meaningful change. The event featured Elena-Alexandra Miron, an expert in international law and youth representation; Oana Gheorghiu, co-founder of “Dăruiește Viață” Association, dedicated to social impact in Romania; and Ramona Strugariu, a European Parliament member active in anti-corruption and media freedom initiatives.
The speakers provided practical advice on leadership and advocacy, encouraging participants to consider how they, too, can drive impact in these critical areas. The discussion highlighted the essential role of women in fostering global change and advancing social progress.
Webinar “Youth and civic participation: Challenges and opportunities”
The online event on September 5, 2024, discussed the increasing influence of digital activism post-pandemic and its comparison to traditional forms of civic engagement. The session began with a debate featuring four young champions from the European and international debate circuits on the topic: “Is online activism less impactful than in-person civic engagement?”. They explored the strengths and limitations of both approaches, discussing where digital mobilization methods intersect with conventional advocacy.
Following the debate, experts Aladdin Alrifai from the European Association for Local Democracy (ALDA) and Luca Ciubotaru, founder of Rădăuțiul Civic Association, provided practical examples for youth looking to engage both online and offline, from strategies for local digital campaigns to impactful civic initiatives in Romania. The session concluded with an interactive workshop on methods for youth civic engagement across platforms.
The webinar, organized by CRPE in collaboration with the Romanian Association for Debate, Oratory and Rhetoric (ARDOR), the Group for Social Dialogue, and the Association of Responsible Youth, provided participants with valuable perspectives and tools for enacting positive change in their communities.
Organized in the framework of the Civic-EU project, this webinar series is a timely platform for exploring relevant issues in leadership, civic participation, and social responsibility. By bringing together experts and emerging voices from fields like politics, sustainability, and digital advocacy, the series empowers participants with the tools and insights to drive meaningful change.
