How can participation become truly accessible for all young people?
EVY-PACT was developed from a simple but important question: how can we ensure that all young people have real opportunities to participate in civic and democratic life?
Across Europe, many young people want to get involved in their communities, contribute to social change and have their voices heard. However, not all young people have the same access to participation opportunities, civic spaces or decision-making processes.
Young people facing social exclusion, discrimination or unequal access to resources often encounter additional barriers that limit their participation in democratic life. These include young people with migrant backgrounds, LGBTQIA+ youth, young people with disabilities and those living in rural or peripheral areas.
EVY-PACT aims to address these challenges by strengthening inclusive participation, creating spaces for dialogue and supporting stronger connections between young people, communities and institutions.
Project objectives
- strengthen young people’s active participation in democratic processes
- create and support inclusive and accessible civic spaces
- encourage dialogue between young people and institutions at local and European level
- increase awareness of citizenship rights and democratic participation
- develop practical models and recommendations for more inclusive youth participation policies.
How does the project work?
EVY-PACT combines research, education, participation and dialogue through a series of interconnected activities implemented over two years.
The project includes:
- comparative research on barriers to youth civic participation across partner countries
- educational activities and tools focused on active citizenship and democratic engagement
- participatory labs and co-creation activities involving young people
- international exchanges and peer-learning activities
- structured dialogue between young people, institutions and local stakeholders
- communication and advocacy activities aimed at amplifying young people’s voices.
An important element of the project is the connection between local experiences and European-level discussions, with the aim of transforming practical experiences and research findings into recommendations for future policies and participation models.
Expected impact
Through its activities, EVY-PACT aims to contribute to:
- stronger and more inclusive youth participation
- increased awareness among young people about democratic processes and civic engagement
- institutions that are more open and responsive to young people’s perspectives
- innovative participation models that can be replicated in different European contexts
- a stronger transnational network working on youth participation and active citizenship.
The long-term goal of the project is to contribute to a more inclusive democratic society, where all young people have the opportunity to participate, contribute and shape social change.
