We are delighted to announce the successful completion of three engaging and informative workshops organized by the Romanian Center for European Policies in collaboration with Aspire Teachers, under the EulectionPlay project: “Gamifying Youth Public Participation: From Local Governance to European Union Elections.”
These workshops, held on the following dates, aimed to equip 40 teachers with the tools and knowledge necessary to implement the Electionville game in their classrooms, promoting democratic involvement among students:
- 27th of March – First Workshop (Online)
- 29th of March – Second Workshop (Online)
- 20th of April – Third Workshop (Online)
Each workshop was designed to be highly interactive and informative, ensuring that participating teachers gained a comprehensive understanding of the project and the Electionville game.
Here’s a detailed overview of how these events were conducted:
Workshop structure and content
Each of the three workshops had a consistent structure and purpose. The primary goal was to inform teachers about the overarching project and introduce them to the Electionville game, a tool designed to simulate democratic processes in a classroom setting. The workshops included detailed presentations on the game, explaining the rules and offering practical insights on how to effectively implement it in educational environments.
Comprehensive training
During the workshops, trainers presented a thorough walkthrough of the project’s various phases. This included an introduction to an upcoming EU workshop specifically tailored for students and an outline of a survey designed to assess students’ knowledge and motivation regarding democratic involvement in the European Union. These components are crucial for achieving the project’s goals of enhancing civic education and engagement.
Pre-event preparation
To ensure a seamless and productive experience, all interested teachers received physical copies of the Electionville game prior to the workshops. This preparation allowed the participants to familiarize themselves with the game materials ahead of time, enabling more effective learning during the sessions.
Participation and impact
The three online workshops collectively gathered 40 teachers who are now better equipped to foster democratic values and civic participation among their students. The workshops not only provided valuable training but also prepared the teachers for further involvement in the subsequent phases of the project.
Looking ahead
These workshops mark an important step in our ongoing efforts to enhance civic education through innovative tools and collaborative initiatives. We look forward to continuing this journey and supporting teachers in their crucial role of shaping informed and engaged citizens.
