Webminar: Fighting EU Related Disinformation Across the EU: Eastern European Perspectives

Romanian Center for European Policies (CRPE) and InfoAcc & FreeEx Research Lab, University of Bucharest is organising an 10th of October 2024 on online conference: “WHOs and HOWs: Fighting EU Related Disinformation Across the EU: Eastern European Perspectives” providing to relevant audiences EU27 young professionals in various fields and researchers – across EU a brief but comprehensive understanding of anti-European narratives in Eastern Europe, their impact and topic-related targets in the last two years.

The event is design to bring transectorial, short and long term actions to timely and effectively combat EU – related disinformation. Experts, media professionals, and researchers will share their insights on how disinformation is shaping public opinion, particularly in Romania, Bulgaria, Poland, and Hungary. Together, we will explore both the short- and long-term strategies needed to counter these narratives effectively.

Who should attend?
The event is aimed at students, young professionals, researchers, and anyone interested in EU affairs, disinformation, journalism, and the impact of digital media in Eastern Europe. The solutions and tools to counteract this phenomenon do exist, but they have not yet produced results. We see this webminar a good opportunity to show models, tested tools or case studies where counteracting and isolating disinformation have functioned.

Proposed Key Topics Include:

  • Data: The Liars and the Believers of Anti-EU Narratives in 2024
  • Strategic Narratives: War, Democracy, and Value-Related Targets
  • Needs-Fears Narratives: Targets and Impacts
  • Key Themes in EU Electoral Campaigns in Central and Eastern Europe
  • Why Fact-Checking is Not Enough
  • Solution-Driven Debate: Logistics, Distribution Channels, Monetization, and Technology
